Objective: Conditioning hike
Left Base camp at 0700hrs after issuing radios and GPS’s to all of the members. Members started hiking up ridge trail to Black Mountain at 0800hrs. The total length of the hike was 4 miles round trip. Members arrived back at base camp @12:00hrs. Started out at 4200' and gained 1500' in elevation to 5700'. No injuries, no incidents
Training 2
Date: 1/28/2012
Type: Base camp
Location: Golden Hills
Weather: 45 degrees, wind 35knots
Objective: Setting up base camp.
Members arrived at the training location at 0800hrs. Members learned the procedures on how to set up base camp trailer. Starting with: unhitching and stabilizing the trailer. After that, we went to starting the generator, setting up canopy, radio antennas and the map tables. Training ended at 1200hrs
Training 3
Date: 2/4/2012
Type: MRA Rappelling
Location: Mouth of the 178
Weather: 65degrees Clear
Objective: Refine skills for rappelling.
Members arrived at the site 0730hrs. The team was briefed on the skills needed for the training. Anchors were tied to the vehicles for the short rappel. Each member practiced the rappelling off a small 90-degree incline. Members also practiced knot passing and rappelling with different types of devices. Members also practiced ascending with different devices. Members then rappelled down a [2] 200-foot rock faces using the self-belay technique. Training ended @ 1500hrs.
